I think it's one of the best NONDisney animations around (thx ducky). They've come a pretty long way since Snow White where animating male characters was still a huge challenge! The expression changes for characters in this film is pretty much spot-on and the direction is perfect. I recall this scene where Dimitri was singing out of the window and a little guy- almost unnoticeable just sprung into life in the background and started dancing. The timing was perfect and although very short, it capped off a very good scene.
On top of that, it seems to me that the animators paid great attention to details and managed to bring both fine art and digital animation together. Just look at the backgrounds! So heavy, so rich, so luxurious. Beautiful.
Sigh.
Remember this?

The 5-feet tall tapir has wandered off again. With a liverbird on her back, she left behind that hot french boyfriend of hers for a layout still undecided.
